The Bentonsport of Yesterday

Bentonport has a rich history. Bentonsport thrived in the mid-1800s as a steamboat town. Riverbanks on both the Bentonsport and South Bentonsport (Vernon) were lined with an assortment of Mills.  This photo gallery consists of "penny postcards" as well as a generous number of other early photos. Bentonsport Today

The Bentonsport of today retains much of the same rustic look of yesterday thanks to the preservation efforts of numerous individuals, organizations and the Van Buren County Conservation Board. The "Bentonsport Today" gallery gives you a glimpse of a typical day in Bentonsport including some of the special events that are scheduled throughout the year.
